The craftiness has waned...

Since sewing on those pants in my last post, my sewing has screeched to a dead halt...

I've been focusing on crocheting on a birthday present, and have let absolutely everything else fall by the wayside.

I need to get OTHER stuff done...I know the crocheting has a due date fast approaching, but I need to get other things, other presents done too!!

More than just patchy...

My second pair of patched pants...

With a little more "oomph"...

Painted with Aunt Martha's ballpoint paints.

Patches, Patches, everywhere!!

For quite a while now there has been a jean shortage @ our house. (which is what happens when every pair of jeans has holes in the butt, as well as all over the front of the legs...so, BEWARE!!)

I used old scraps left over after making denim bags and quilts to patch my pants.
I like the finished product...
What about you?

My FNSI spoils!!

I recently bought these ballpoint paints @ JoAnns. My great aunt has some she's owned for 20 years, and I've always loved them, so I bought my own set.
My 1st block, a '67 Mustang for my dad.
My 2nd block, a '57 Chevy Bel Air, also for my dad.
I'm also working on some Sesame Street hot iron transfers for a quilt for my son.

I don't get why it is SO hard...

I WANT to get up and get stuff done. I KNOW that I NEED to start getting stuff done.

Most of the time I feel like I don't have any energy. I'm all lethargic and just sit and end up watching tv all day...

"Speed-sewing"

A little over a year ago, I managed to make a baby quilt in 4 hours...between the hours of 6am and 10am.

I would like to try "speed-creating" on a few more projects, as I need to get stuff done.

New Designs for a New Age....

I'm trying my hand @ designing clothes. So far, I really like the denim skirt I've been working on.

One friend suggested I try making a blazer with a hoodie.

So, I'd have yo make one of these:
And add a hood to it...He says he knows a bunch of girls who'd wear it.

We'll see how this goes.

Nato's Halloween Quilt

I made this quilt top last year, here it is pinned, folded, & waiting to be hand-tied.

I just finished pinning it!! My fingers are SO sore, but it's FINALLY done!!

My FNSI spoils...

This is my New Home sewing machine. It is dated from 1941-1953, and it is awesome.
I use it for most of my sewing.
The following 3 pics are AFTER pics.

These are the new Muslin strips for the quilt frame ends.
The legs after being wiped down and let dry overnight.

That sheet on the right is made out of Muslin, and anything I can find online says that you attach Muslin to the quilt frame to be pinned to later.

All pictures to follow after are BEFORE shots:

Same quilt...with appliques..

I think I'm gonna do both names on the back...the front is too busy & the letters get lost.

Jem's quilt design...

What do you think?

(The green isn't part of the quilt.)
I plan on doing 2 borders around the edge...and I'll also be adding her first name onto the front, and her last name onto the back.

I am trying to become more productive.

Cutting, cutting, cutting...When will it end??

I am currently cutting blocks for a quilt and am thinking of using this fabric as the backing for a lap quilt.

Crafty Bracers to protect my arms from unwanted slices from seam rippers...

I recently sliced myself open with a large seam ripper whilst dismantling a pair of jeans. So, I decided I needed to make these for myself to shield against further instances.

Denim, Denim, Everywhere!!!

Today I've been cutting blocks from denim jeans. I've already cut almost 20 today, to add to the 12 or so that were already cut.

I also made a quick trip to Porterville for a short visit with a friend I haven't seen since 2007, and I delivered to him a bowl I made in Pottery in 2006.

I plan on working on Tal's quilt tonight.

Yesterday of Yesteryear...

Across the whole span of yesterday, I managed to put some of my fabric back on a shelf, finish the girl doll quilt top, made Adam's dicebag, and cut out most of my shirts I had set aside for a t-shirt quilt...

I also cleaned up the living room & vacuumed.

Getting along...

This past week, Nato, the kids, and I made several trips to the Valley Oak SPCA. The 1st & 2nd were to drop off a stray momma cat & her 6 kittens, while there we looked at the adoptable adult cats they had there.

We were smitten with a 2-year old male tabby. His name was Tuff.

I went back the next day& adopted him.

He is getting fixed on Monday morning, then I'll be picking him up in the afternoon!!

I'm SO excited!!

First WNSI!!

Today is the first Wednesday Sew-In!!

I'm hoping to get 4 potholders finished, and a doll quilt top finished and maybe get it sandwiched.

Today's endeavors...

I am cleaning up and re-organizing the craft room so that it'll be more useful & less cluttered.

I've already thrown away a bunch of old papers that had been placed in there when the rest of the house got cleaned.

Also, I'm hoping to get the entertainment center cleaned out so I can finally use it as storage space...

We put it in there when we moved here...but then it got jam packed with random stuff as did the rest of the room...

I've almost got all the "non-craftroom stuff" out...that is the 1st of 3 things to go...

Wednesday Night Sew-In

I am hereby invoking Wednesday Night Sew-Ins!!

I am setting them up to be weekly, but if you can only participate bi-weekly, or monthly, that's okay too.

You can work on any projects that might have fallen by the wayside, due to our fast-paced, stress-filled lives.

The first Wednesday Night Sew-In will be on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011.

If you plan on participating in this, please leave your name and blog URL in the comments.

My FNSI progress!!

I had QUITE the productive FNSI...I started early and ended LATE!!

I worked on piecing this (made the design on May 14th):

I went through my stash to fill this medium flat rate box for my quilter friend Cari. She's making a coin quilt with 2" and larger scraps.

I cut the stack of black, brown, and yellow blocks...still have quite a bit of fabric to go...
That whole stack is still needing to be done.

I got approx. 1/2 the blocks cut for my godson Xander's quilt (it's gonna have a Porky Pig back)!

I had alot of fun catching up on projects!!

Thanks SO much Heidi and Bobbi for hosting FNSI nights!! I know it helps alot of us to find the extra time to work!!
