Frogged, back to the beginning AGAIN!!

After going back & forth for the last week, I finally ended up having to completely frog this scarf & start again.

I'm really liking how it's turning out now that I've started anew.

I am SO happy I was able to match colors so closely. I also plan on adding the patch or two that were on the original.

I'll update on Monday or Tuesday, once I get back from my Dad's.

Merry Christmas
(or Happy Holidays, whichever you prefer)!!

What has been accomplished today, so far....

We went to town, Nate cashed his check, we got a money order, we sent that and Netflix out, along w/ 2 mixed CDs for a friend in NC.

I also got a bit farther on my crochet project, although, I ended up having to pull almost all of it out & start again.

We'll see what happens w/ Rod's quilt tonight.

A new schedule...for us all!

Nato got a new work schedule, so we had to re-arrange our whole day, so we actually get stuff done.

I will be crocheting anytime I'm not busy, in addition to my craft time, to ensure some of it gets done everyday.

I really need to finish Rod's quilt. I've been meaning to, just been kinda busy with the kids.
Tomorrow is Nato's day off, so I plan to finish Rod's quilt tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

Sleigh Bells ring......Are ye' listening??

My MIL bought 12 little stockings for the family, but there ended up not being one for her, so I'm gonna make her one out of Tinkerbell material.

Friday, December 3, 2010

An update from my desperate plea...lol

Nato & I talked last night and he said he's going to buy me the laptop, under the firm stipulation that I have it at least MOSTLY paid off in approx. three years.

So,.........................YAY!!!

Saving for a HP TouchSmart tm2t Notebook PC

As soon as I get paid for a quilt I already delivered, I'm going to be saving every cent I get for a HP TouchSmart tm2t Notebook PC.

https://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cart_detail.do?pageLink=true&bvLoadCart=1&action=add&disp_msg=0

I have checked one out, and it seems to be the best choice for what I'm wanting/needing.

I'm not expecting any help, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

If anyone could please help me out by donating ANY money, even a quarter, it would help immensely.

If you're interested in helping, please let me know & I'll e-mail you my address.

Updates across the board...

I have begun piecing Rosey Roses.
This is the design I came up with. I'm really liking it.

Almost a week ago (I think), Nato got me a full account of WoW (World of Warcraft), so I've been trying to not be on that all the time.

We've figured out a system, 2-3 hours on the game, at least 1 hour per day mandatory sewing.

Gettin' back in the groove of things...

I'm finally getting things done...

This is how I've been feeling the last couple months...

I'm trying to take a step back & not care so much about little things that in the grand scheme, don't matter...

I have cut all the fabric for Rosey Roses (Theresa's quilt) and am hoping to come up w/ a new design tonight...

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

It's been a while...

Well, last Saturday I went to Family Fun Night (yearly reunion, for my dad's side). Anyways, we came home w/ a pretty good haul...these are the 3 major items

  • A hand-quilted Spiderman-themed quilt: for Tobi
  • A girl-themed tied fleece blanket: for Allis
  • A crocheted patchwork blanket: for Allis

Now Tobi has 2 superhero quilts; Batman & Spiderman...

Luckily, last week I was able to finish Hannah & Jason's quilt. I did the great reveal up @ the reunion...

It got a bunch of oohs, ahhs, & cheers!!!

Hannah & Jason LOVED it!!

Last night, I made the design for Theresa's quilt, but alas, I don't have enough of the fabric for that quilt to do the design...so I have to RE-design today...

I need to get this done...

After a week of no progress...

After a week of no progress in sewing or quilting, I basted Rod's quilt & have started quilting it.

Today I will be focusing on finishing the border of Hannah & Jason's quilt, then working some more on Rod's quilt.

If I'm still in the mood to do so later, I will also be cutting out the fabric for Theresa's great granddaughter.

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Since Monday...

I finished Journey's quilt yesterday.

I still need to finish the other ones though.

Monday, October 18, 2010

Nice day outside....and all I want to do is sew...

Yes, we FINALLY have some nice weather!!

However, since today is Nato's day off, he has decided to mow the yard, as we don't want to be charged a $75 fee for the park to do it for us.

I am watching the kids & working on Allie's, Joey's, NickDaniel's, and Rod's quilts.

I have decided that for my Halloween costume this year I'm just going to wear my wedding dress w/ the corset I made over it.

I'm hoping to get at least one of the aforementioned quilts done today.

Saturday, October 16, 2010

Oct. 15th Friday night sew-in!!

I didn't manage to get anymore work done on my costume last night, but I did, however, FINALLY finish Rod's quilt top. I am making this quilt for a friend of my mom's that is going through Chemotherapy.

I figured a comfort quilt might help his morale.

Friday, October 15, 2010

Hmmm...

I didn't get ANY work done on my costume yesterday, but I did get one more row sewn on Rod's quilt top.

Today, I'm HOPING to get Rod's quilt top done & get some more of my costume cut out.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Okay, so it's been a while...

The kids & I went to KyRa's for RyJa's 1st b-day party last weekend.
She picked us up late Friday morning, we spent the night there, were @ the party on Saturday, then they dropped us off @ my mom's in the evening. We spent Saturday night @ my mom's.

Sunday morning my mom dropped us off @ Uncle Larry & Aunt Donna's place out in OC. Uncle Larry worked on a coverup tattoo for me.

I had fun over the weekend, but I was SO happy to be home Saturday night.

Monday was my & Nato's date day. Tony, Robin, & my MIL watched the kids for us for quite a few hours. We had a really nice date.

Yesterday we played D&D.
Last night I FINALLY finished repairing the denim bag my mom made in high school.

Today I'm hoping to get work done on my costume!

Monday, October 4, 2010

Today, today, oh, today...

EARLY!!!!!! this morning, my MIL texted me telling us to get up & ready, cause we were going onto town. We did our shopping stuff for a few hours then came home.

I am SO happy, over 2 days, having to watch kids too, I almost have Rod's quilt top done!!

Sunday, October 3, 2010

...getting busy.

Yesterday, I got 2 loads of dishes done, then Nato did the rest for me, I finished patching up the denim bag, I just need to reattach the liner & strap.

I'm in the process of piecing Rod's quilt top. I am hoping to get it done & in the mail this week!!

Tonight is the night Nato stays up so I can sleep uninterrupted, so we'll see how much more work I get done before bed.

Saturday, October 2, 2010

At least SOMETHING got done!!

Yesterday, I repaired several pairs of jeans. One for me and a few for Hannah (Cara's younger sister, not the one married to Jason).

Anyways, I finished up the 3rd row of Rod's quilt, and disassembled (tore apart just sounds too violent for this...) the denim bag my mom made in high school, as it is in DIRE need of repairs and I am hoping to patch it all up.

That's about all I got done yesterday. BUT, looking back, that is quite alot while taking care of 2 kids!!

I am planning on cleaning up the explosion of dishes today, as well as getting some work done in the sewing room.

Friday, October 1, 2010

Here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again...

I didn't manage to get any more quilting done on Alice in Quiltland yesterday, but I started another row on Rod's quilt.

I am hoping to get a good chunk of Rod's quilt top done today. We will see if it happens.

I also am hoping to get at least SOME more quilting done on Alice in Quiltland too.

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Done with something at least

Last night I finally finished my corset.

Today I'm hoping to finish quilting Alice in Quiltland....

We'll see what happens.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Update on work done over the last 5 days...

Almost none...

I got 2 rows of blocks sewn, my corset is almost finished, & my bloomers are almost finished.

I am hoping to finish at least my corset today.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Well, so much for wishful thinking...

I didn't get ANY sewing done yesterday...

None...not a stitch!!

The day went by too fast & Nato & I are still trying to figure out where it went...

Maybe I can get some work done today before our birthday party...

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!!

Hey there, y'all!!
(Hehehe...I said y'all...)

Today is my 21st b-day!!!

I'm making it my own personal sew-in day, as my hubby has it off & is gonna watch our kids all day for me.

I REALLY need to catch up...

I took a break from my bloomers as they had been aggravating me, and as a result, I'm almost done w/ my corset.

I really need to get started on the actual "costume" part of my costume.

I am also hoping to get Nato's 2nd anniversary quilt sandwiched, quilted, and tied tomorrow... (Is that wishful thinking?)

I have yet to start on Tobi's costume, but hopefully over the next few days Nato has off I'll be able to make good leeway on both Tobi's & my costumes.

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Keeping Up Appearances...

That was a good show...lol

Anyways, I've been keeping busy working on quilting projects & starting my White Queen costume.

Yesterday, I started making the bloomers for under the dress.

I'm continuing them today as well as trying to quilt one of my 2 donation quilts.

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Just a general update...

I have approx. 1/2 to 3/4 of H&J border done, I still REALLY need to get all 4 of my donation quilts for Quilts for Kids (http://www.quiltsforkids.org/) quilted by Tuesday morning, which probably means I'm not going to be sleeping tomorrow night, BUT, we'll see!!

Nato is AWESOME!!!

He just ordered me a professional dressmaker's mannequin.

I should have it soon!!!

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Getting quicker...

I have pinned the border on Hannah & Jason's quilt. All I have to do is stitch the border & it is done!!

Between yesterday & today, I laundered the material for Teresa's great granddaughter's quilt as well as the material for my mom's friend Rod's quilt.

This morning, I finished my mock corset, made from my favorite halter top, and I am still adjusting my skirt so it will fit.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

An update accumulated over the last few days...

I have finally sewn the borders onto Nato's Halloween 2nd anniversary quilt.

I have also chosen a backing for Anonymous II, basted it with curved safety pins, and started hand quilting it.

It is going to take forever, but it will be worth it.

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Getting work done...

Day before yesterday I finished tying Hannah & Jason's quilt, now all that is left is to sew the border.

Yesterday I finished piecing Nato's quilt top. All that is left is to add the borders.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Today's Accomplishments!!

Today was Nato's day off, and he helped me with the kids.

So, I was able to finish sewing the 4-patch blocks for Nato's quilt & have started piecing the top.

I think it will go together really fast now.

Also, we FINALLY got Hannah & Jason's quilt basted w/ curved safety pins. Hand-tying starts tomorrow.

Sunday, August 15, 2010

UPDATE: from my last post...

I have almost finished cutting out the fabric for Nato's quilt.

I will be finishing that up today, and starting to piece the top.

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Nato's 2nd anniversary Halloween quilt!!!

I have finished cutting out the Owls in trees fabric.
I still have to finish cutting out the rest of the fabric, but, we ARE getting there!!

Friday, August 13, 2010

Spoils from yesterday's excursion...

I got a few different horse fabrics to supplement the ones I already had, to make a quilt to sell.
I also got quite a bit of food fabric to make another quilt to sell.
I got a few fabrics for the quilts I am making Kristin's 4 grandkids she takes care of.

I got a yard each of the 2 main fabrics in Nato's Halloween quilt: (http://modernroots.com/p/quilting-natos-2nd-anniversary-gift)
and a 1/4 yard of each of the border fabrics.

I got a blue remnant for the Spiderman quilt, an orange remnant to supplement w/ the rest of Nato's fabrics, and 2 sage green remnants to supplement the quilt I'm making for my mom's friend Rod.

Oh, and we also picked up a King-sized sheet for Hannah & Jason's quilt...if it ends up STILL being too small (which it shouldn't be) then I am just going to sew some of the queen sized sheet onto it.

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

We got the batting, BUUUUUUT......

The sheet we had picked out for the quilt back is queen sized. It needs to be king-sized.

Earlier today, I received the portion of money my brother owed me for Hannah & Jason's quilt, so my mother-in-law is going to take me to JoAnn's tomorrow to pick up the rest of the fabric I need for my anniversary quilt to Nato.

This Halloween will be our 2nd wedding anniversary.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Just a quick little post...

If anyone wants to place an order for any quilts to be finished in time for Christmas, August 31st is the last day to order!!

Hannah & Jason's quilt...

As it turns out, I didn't have a big enough piece of hi-loft batting for their quilt, or even enough small pieces to piece together to make a big enough piece...lol

So, later, or possibly tomorrow.

I have started plans on my anniversary present for Nato. An approx. 7 1/2' x 7 1/2' quilt that is done in all Halloween fabrics and orange and black as complementary colors.

Monday, August 9, 2010

FINALLY DONE!! Well, sort of...

I FINALLY finished Hannah & Jason's quilt top!!Later today, Nato & I will be laying it out with the quilt back, batting, and quilt top to baste it with safety pins.

Then I will start hand-tying it. This is the plan for how it will be tied at every point & center; except the outermost edges, as they will be covered by the binding..

Thursday, August 5, 2010

They're here....They're HERE!!

A week or two ago, I went to http://www.quiltsforkids.org/ and requested 4 quilt kits.

They will send you kits, and all you have to provide is 1/8"-1/4" thick batting & return shipping.

I am already almost done w/ my 1st quilt top, and it is looking awesome...I will post pics later.

Monday, August 2, 2010

As of yet...

I have yet to begin actually working on anything...I just finished documentation for yesterday's work.

Hannah & Jason's quilt as of yesterday!
I am making this quilt to help out a woman I met recently who takes care of her 4 grandchildren.
This quilt in particular is for her 6-month-old granddaughter.

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Okay, so here goes...

I got the 3rd row on Hannah & Jason's quilt re-pinned & sewn.

I will be attaching row 4 to the top tomorrow, and I will be HOPEFULLY finishing the rag quilt for the 6-month old.

Tomorrow morning, I am going to have Nato starch the fabric I need for the 3 girl quilts. It will be MUCH easier to get accurate measurements & therefore squares, when the fabric is stiffer.

Nato has been wanting to pull the rows of Michelle's quilt back apart & pin them to get them more accurate, so that's what he's doing tomorrow, amongst other things.

Well, I'll let you know how it goes...!!

Well, ...........

I got another row pinned on Hannah's, went to go sew it and realized there was a large gap on one side, so I have to unpin & re-pin today...then sew.

I'm also wanting to get a rag quilt done today.

Saturday, July 31, 2010

HI HO, HI HO, it's off to work we go...

Nato has the most retarded work schedule ever, today. He had to be at work from 8:30am -11:30am. Then he had to go back to work at 2pm and work until 10pm.

RIDICULOUS!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyways...done ranting......where was I?????
Oh, yeah!!
I am gonna sew another row to Hannah & Jason's quilt, then work on Meme's, cause her quilt top is almost done, and her pieces are already all cut out.
We'll see what I get done from there, cause tonight is Uncle Larry's b-day party, and I'm going w/ the kids.
Friday, July 30, 2010
After all...
I'm not very happy w/ myself today.
I had 5 projects I wanted to get at least SOME work done on, and I ended up only working on Hannah & Jason's.
Instead of working on the others in the afternoon, evening, & night, I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer instead.
So, for the rest of the weekend, these projects are my plan:
We'll see how much work I end up getting done, and I will post again @ the weekend's end.
Today's To-Do
Today, I am planning to work on:
(though not necessarily in this order)
Wednesday, July 28, 2010
An update for 1st quilt!
This is what I've accomplished over the last few days.
I still have quite a bit to go as it is obviously still small, and I want it to be queen-sized.
Sunday, July 25, 2010
Nato's first FNSI!!
While I was working on my first quilt, Nato was working on Michelle's quilt.
We only have to add horizontal sashing to a few more rows, then the top will be finished.
Saturday, July 24, 2010
Friday Night Sew-In!!
Last night was my first official FNSI that I've been a part of. Nato, my husband, joined me and we stayed up until 3 am working on various projects including Michelle's quilt (http://modernroots.com/p/quilting-michelles-quilt)
and my first ever quilt that I had started in June 2008.
I finally started adding more to my first quilt last night. I have collected a wide range of different colored and textured fabrics for this quilt.
Here it is so far...
Thursday, July 22, 2010
Fastest quilt I have EVER made!!
I also made an entire baby quilt similar to Allissa's (http://modernroots.com/p/quilting-first-quilt-made-by-nato), but longer.
I started choosing fabrics, measuring & cutting @ 6:30am, and had the quilt completely finished by 9:58am.
Monday, July 19, 2010
Starting a business!!
Nato and I have been discussing it for a while now and we want to make Share Your Goodwill Quilts an actual business.
We are in the process of building a website for it, and even have a business PayPal account set up already.
As of right now, we need to figure out pricing for the quilts, and get some made to sell.
I will keep you updated and will post the link to our website, once we finish it.
Monday, July 5, 2010
Had myself a little sew-in last night...
During my sew-in night, I finished repairing Dan's quilt and FINALLY finished Allissa's quilt!!
